How Thermal Imaging Finds Water
Why wet materials look different in infrared, and why that is only step one.
Water changes heat capacity and evaporation. A wet patch under a finished surface heats and cools differently from the dry material around it, producing a thermal contrast the camera can see.
The contrast is a clue, not a conclusion. Insulation gaps, air paths and thermal bridging produce similar patterns. That is why professional practice confirms every anomaly: moisture meter, acoustic listening, or controlled testing.
The output that matters is a confirmed finding with a location, not a colourful image. Ask for the confirmation method in writing.
